Being The Interviewer

I had a game during the day of filming so I had to leave class early. I was unable to film an interview so this is a filmed one that I was given to edit. From doing Plushie #1 and #2 I know how to get the film onto Final Cut Pro. I know how to make a new event and project so that was fairly easy. I learned a new skill while editing this interview. I learned the pressing the "b" key allows you to cut out certain parts. Sydney showed me how to press command plus, which allows the film to be stretched out. This helped me when I was cutting parts out and I was able to see where the sound cuts in and out. I learned what b-roll is and how to place it to cover up the cuts. The most complicated part to this process was finding music. It was hard to find the right song that isn't sad or too happy and upbeat. I also needed to find instrumental music because I didn't want it to be confusing hearing two voices at once during the video. I eventually found a song, but I still am not sure if I picked the right one. I made it very soft, you can only really hear it when the b-roll is playing.

Being Interviewed

I was not interviewed because I missed both days due to field hockey games. Hopefully sometime in the future I will be able to be interviewed.

Being Behind The Camera

I was not able to observe an interview because I was not put into a group. I will have many other opportunities to watch interviews in the future.

Being Behind The Camera #2

Being The Interviewer #2

This was my first interview in cinema class. I didn't go in with any questions prepared because it was only a minute long and I figured I could make up questions as we go. If this was a real interview, I would definitely make sure I was prepared. I had difficulty setting up the light and it never actually worked. So no additional lighting was used here, which I will never do again. I didn't keep in mind that there would be cars passing and kids running in the background. I was really just trying to find a pretty view on campus to have in the background. I also noticed while editing, Jarrett has a shadow over his face and his glasses are dark. I thought the sound quality wasn't terrible considering the kids and the cars. I should have kept the interview inside where the sound quality would have been fine and the lighting as well. This interview was definitely a learning experience with a couple bumps in the process.
